Florida’s Inspectors General have been organized for many years, sharing information and establishing working groups to address such issues as training needs, legislation, and multi-agency audit and investigative issues.

Formerly, the organization was known as the Governor’s Council on Integrity and Efficiency, which was established by Executive Order of the Governor in 1995.  The objective was, and still is, to promote accountability, integrity, and efficiency in government, as is stated in the law that created state inspectors general in 1994, section 20.055, Florida Statutes.

The majority of Florida Inspectors General are members of the national Association of Inspectors General (AIG), which was established in 1996.  The Tallahassee Chapter of the AIG meets monthly for lunch and a business meeting, which features guest speakers that have included legislators, the Auditor General and guests from the Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability.

The Vision

Enhancing public trust in government

The Mission

Provide leadership in the promotion of accountability and integrity of state government
